Special thanks to Jonathan Mueller for sharing Nevada's process, and to Rebecca Bell, for informing us of the pending release of Maryland's plan. Congratulations to their states on getting to where they are. A huge plus for Illinois is that they now have a green governor, Pat Quinn, who will certainly be an asset in moving their "EL for IL" (Environmental Literacy for Illinois) update plans along. They have many strong movers and shakers, ranging from the Environmental Education Association of Illinois to

We are in the process of developing an ELP for our state. We have met with representatives from various agencies and educators to begin the process by creating a case for support document. We will share when we complete this document, hopefully by mid-October. We started a wiki discussion board that you are welcome to view and share your comments. The wiki address is http://arelp.pbworks.com/

The EE Learner Guidelines support state environmental education efforts by setting learner expectations for environmental literacy in 4th, 8th, and 12th grades. Use these guidelines as you develop your state Environmental Literacy Plan. You can download the publication from this post.

Hi Everyone, Florida is creeping along with our ELP! We had our first meeting in January. This thoughtful discussion on what we need for our state as well as what the legislation states we need was eye-opening. There are many elements we do not know. We created a wiki (https://floridaenvironmentalliteracyplan.pbwiki.com) to help us all work on the plan. The wiki enables us to make comments to the same document as everyone else without clogging up our email accounts. We divided the plan into sections wit

On 12/12/08, I attended a meeting in Joliet, Il, along with reps from EEAI (Environmental Education Association of Illinois}, ISTA (Illinois Science Teachers Association), Chicago Wilderness, etc. A major purpose of this meeting was to begin considering the task of updating "EL for IL" to make it NCLI compliant. Many of the reps had been involved in drafting earlier versions of the State's environmental literacy plan. After introductions, we began by sharing "factoids" to bring everyone
