NatureBridge is currently seeking educators for the spring 2015 season at our campus in Prince William Forest Park, VA.
Marine Science Camp Interns will gain an in depth understanding of the dynamic ecosystems of a barrier island, receive training in Environmental Interpretation and Education, and gain experience creating educational curricula for ages 8-18.
Outreach Programs and Internship Supervisors gain experience leading groups of all ages and teaching a diverse array of topics that highlight the dynamic ecosystems of a barrier island. They also achieve valuable supervisory experience as they help to manage our high school intern and summer volunteer programs. Outreach Programs and Internship Supervisors work alongside program staff to provide a diverse range of educational and scientific program experiences.
Educators work with all programs (school, college, family and adult, and summer camp programs). Gain valuable and diverse knowledge regarding aquarium and field equipment use and maintenance, boat crew skills and boat safety, group leadership in laboratory and field settings, time management and marine husbandry. Candidates must demonstrate problem solving skills, time and group management skills, and enthusiasm for education and the environment.
Adult and Family Educator will lead family and adult groups of all ages and teach a diverse array of topics that highlight the dynamic ecosystems of a barrier island. Adult and Family activities are varied and may include kayaking and canoeing trips, cycling tours, nature hikes, photography, adult craft programs (basketry, kayak building, flint knapping, etc.), home school programs, historical tours, boat trips, campfires, science labs, marine organism collection, water testing and sampling, and more.
