Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area is seeking to fill 1-2 apprentice positions in our environmental education and recreation program. LBL is a 170,000-acre National Recreation Area located in Kentucky and Tennessee and is administered by the U.S. Forest Service. Apprenticeship positions are for individuals who seek practical experience and training in environmental education, outdoor recreation, facility operations, and customer service for a wide range of visitors.

Greenhouse Operations Coordinator

The Greenhouse Op Coordinator will assist in coordinating the completion and outfitting of HON’s new greenhouse and establish the production systems to be used there. The greenhouse will host a social enterprise producing products such as micro-greens and annual plant starts that will be part of an integrated experience for high school students to develop entrepreneurial skills.

Teacher Naturalist

Teacher Naturalists assist in all aspects of implementing residential environmental education program including teaching daily classes mostly with youth and occasionally with adults, conducting evening programs, planning and implementing programs, and assisting in overall facility operations. This position also works extensively with a variety of summer youth camps (nature, science, backpacking) as well as adult and college summer workshops.
