As a member of the Education Team, this position will be responsible for teaching a variety of natural and physical science birthday parties. This Lead EE position will also teach afterschool, scout and school programs for ages pre-K through adult on numerous natural and physical science topics, including teaching with live animals and birds of prey. In addition, this person needs to have good coordination skills to be able to manage different program areas for the Education Department.
Mission Springs Outdoor Education is looking for recent college graduates in the science and/or education field who are interested in sharing their love of God’s creation with students.
The Part Time Environmental Educator will primarily teach a variety of natural and physical science birthday party themes and provide natural history interpretation and guest services at the Visitor Center. In addition, as needed the part time EE may teach afterschool, scout and school programs for ages pre-K through adult on numerous natural and physical science topics, including teaching with live animals and birds of prey. Work week focus is on Saturdays plus 2-3 other days per week.
Develops and delivers programs that create opportunities for visitors to connect with Yosemite National Park's resources. Programs vary and may include: evening slide and film programs, informal interpretive programs, family programs, historic hotel tours of The Ahwahnee, astronomy talks, naturalist strolls, and night prowls. Additionally Naturalist 2 helps with administrative duties of department including the reproduction of the staff schedule and creation of evening program flyer.
The Interpretive Services Naturalist 1 develops and delivers programs that create opportunities for visitors to connect with Yosemite National Park's resources. Programs vary and may include: evening slide and film programs, informal interpretive programs, family programs, historic hotel tours of The Ahwahnee, astronomy talks, naturalist strolls, and night prowls. The work schedule also varies and is comprised of 4-5 evening programs each week.

Create a rich and rewarding experience for sixth graders during their week of outdoor education. Hike the trails, explore, and foster a greater connection to nature for all students. Develop and teach hands-on science curriculum in a fun, engaging way. Sing, dance and laugh with students during evening activities. Play, learn and live with our community of dedicated and passionate naturalists and staff. Envision this rite-of-passage experience for all students.
Experiential education is not only for students that visit the Sierra Outdoor School; it is also for the Naturalist Interns that spend time here. Through a combination of hands-on and guided learning experiences interns will become better educators and naturalists. Under the guidance and supervision of our experienced, permanent staff and program coordinators, Naturalists Interns will learn and/or teach a variety of classes, activities, and skills.
