Trails Monitoring Intern (Position Code: 13664)

Your responsibilities will include: conduct trails monitoring along more
than 90 miles of backcountry trails; use established monitoring protocols
to measure such resource components as tread depth, erosion, vegetative
cover, slope, sensitive resources, human-caused impacts, etc.; collect data
to allow park management to establish best management practices in regards
to the heavily used trail system. You will also conduct biological
assessments and water-quality assessments of trailside streams.

The Mammoth Cave International Center for Science and Learning is
partnership between Mammoth Cave National Park and Western Kentucky
University. We are a member of a national network of research learning
centers based within the National Parks.

Research Learning Centers
       - Facilitate use of parks for scientific inquiry.
       - Support science-informed decision making.
       - Communicate relevance of and provide access to research
knowledge.
       - Promote resource stewardship through partnerships.
