Oregon Environmental Council (OEC) is seeking a Development Associate who
will work directly with and provide assistance to the fundraising team to raise
financial resources for the organization. Specific responsibilities include
drafting letters and correspondence, drafting grant proposals, assisting with
event organizing and corporate fundraising, and providing some database
management.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Primary responsibilities include:
- Drafting letters, emails and other correspondence on behalf of fundraising
team to donors, corporations and prospects
- Drafting grant proposals
- Assisting in organizing our annual event and other fundraising-related
events
- Prospect research
- Assisting Manager of Grants and Corporate Gifts with tracking corporate
sponsors and fulfilling benefits
- Helping update, generate reports and set up fundraising campaigns in
Salesforce, our online database system
- Providing administrative support, including some generating lists and
coordinating mailings, as well as general support to the fundraising team and
executive director, as needed
- Serving as backup receptionist: distributing mail, assisting with check
deposit procedure, responding to general inquiries, greeting guests,
etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Minimum three years of fundraising experience, including database management
experience
- Excellent writing skills and experience writing for fundraising purposes, as
well as editing and proofreading skills
- Skill in all Microsoft Office applications
- Superior organizational skills; able to juggle multiple projects at once
with keen attention to detail
- Flexibility and ability to thrive in a high-energy work environment;
willingness to wear many hats and do what it takes to get the job done
- Enthusiasm for environmental protection
Desirable:
- Technical grant writing skills
- Document design experience
- Information technology skills and facility with computer hardware and
networks
- Previous experience using Salesforce online database
- Experience in event planning
- Experience working in a non-profit advocacy setting
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
