Summary: The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is seeking a Coordinator, School Program to work with our Education & Exhibits department. This position reports to and works closely with Manager, School Programs. The Project Coordinator provides logistical support for Be a Scientist, a collaborative grant project with Iridescent and USC.
The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is seeking a Coordinator, School Program to work with our Education & Exhibits department. This position reports to and works closely with Manager, School Programs. The Project Coordinator provides logistical support for Be a Scientist, a collaborative grant project with Iridescent and USC. The position will assist the Manager, School Programs with the planning and execution of the grant program functions such as instructor trainings, family science field trips, and specimen loan programs.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Coordinates all Be a Scientist activities to take place at the Natural History Museum including family science field trips and specimen loan programs.
  • Orders all necessary supplies for Be a Scientist activities at NHM.
  • Assists Manager, School Programs with the planning and execution all additional Be a Scientist offsite grant program functions such as instructor trainings.
  • Program area or grant -related duties as assigned.

This position has the following requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree in Science, History, Education or related field is preferred.
  • Two or more years experience working with school and/or family audiences in an education setting.
  • Proficient in using computers and software such as Microsoft Word and Excel, basic internet and email.
  • Exceptional flexibility and ability to work as a team to support department wide, and institution wide, integration of programming and museum mission and goal compliance

Salary is commensurate with experience. This is a temporary casual, non-exempt position with a projected end date of June 2014.
